CSS
CSS stands for Comparison Shopping Service and is a website that displays product offers from online retailers and then sends users to the retailers’ websites to make a purchase.
Lyst acts as a CSS through Google Shopping, which is available in the European economic area and Switzerland.
Within this service, CSSs (like Lyst) place product ads on behalf of a merchant. Google Shopping CSS began in June 2017, when the European Commission antitrust fine opened the landscape for Google CSS to allow non-Google partners like Lyst to run Google Shopping activity themselves.
This 1 minute video provided by Google helps to explain further how CSS functions.
PLA
PLAs stand for Product Listing Ads.
Similarly to CSS, the new format of LYST powered shopping ads are essentially owned by the partner, via LYST. They're developed to be supplemental to brands' own campaigns and help your brands gain more shelf space in the limited ad row, as opposed to taking over any existing ads in your campaign
BRAND BIDDING
When someone searches something on a search site such as Google or Bing, an automatic auction begins. Sellers (LYST) bid on keywords in order to get their ad shown.
Due to the competition law affecting keyword bidding, LYST is following the relevant guidance and our position is that we believe we are unable to agree to restrictions on brand bidding without being at risk of fines for infringement of competition law.
Of course, we would always act sensitively in bidding on keywords - we value our partnership and have a shared interest in the success of the brands.
Please see the LYST POWERED SHOPPING ADS page for more information.
